Neighborhood Health Services is a community clinic dedicated to providing residents with high-quality comprehensive medical services, including primary, specialty, mental health, and social / case management care. Their focus is on the underserved, uninsured and homeless in Leon and the surrounding communities. On average, 1,700 patients per month received compassionate care regardless of their ability to pay.
“When we developed Project Mayday the concept was simple: make a profound difference for a nonprofit that serves this community,” said Kelly Robertson, Principal, BowStern. “We would soon learn there was nothing simple about this for us. Selecting only one organization proved to be heart-wrenching. There are so many Big Bend non profits doing such important things in our local community. In the end, we felt that the reach of Neighborhood Health Services would have a broad-sweeping impact on the men, women and children of our community.”
Neighborhood Health Services receives referrals for follow up care from area hospital emergency rooms and routinely serves individuals from other fine nonprofits in the community such as Emergency Care and Help Organization (ECHO) and The Shelter, to name two.
Project Mayday was developed by BowStern specifically for nonprofits in Tallahassee and the Big Bend area. In all, BowStern received 55 applications from local nonprofits and more than 15,000 votes from individuals throughout the Big Bend. The winner of Project Mayday was chosen based on a consensus of the team after the votes from three separate components were evaluated: public voting, out of market review and input from the BowStern team.
The BowStern team will immediately begin developing a program through which they can help more nonprofits in the region.
